THE TRADITIONAL-ANGLICAN FORMULARIES

Through Good and Bad Times, the Words of Sacred Tradition Always Affirm the Sacred Scripture That Is God's Holy Word for the True Church

PLEASE CLICK EACH FORMULARY TITLE to be taken to sites on the Internet which contain the text of the Traditional-Anglican Formularies. Across many denominations, Traditional and continuing Anglicans from 1928 to the modern era utilize classic 16th-century ordinances and systematic-theology manuscripts alongside specific 20th-century prayer books and foundational statements that interpret traditional Faith and worship.

Traditional Formularies and Texts

The 1928 Book of Common Prayer (U.S.): This classic American prayer book served as the standard for worship and liturgy, and you can read the full text via the The 1928 U. S. Book of Common Prayer.

The 1962 Book of Common Prayer (Canada): Alongside the 1928 American edition, this Canadian text is viewed by traditional jurisdictions as an equal and authoritative standard of worship.

The Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion (1571): This historical text outlines the core doctrinal framework of classical Anglicanism.

The Books of Homilies (1547 and 1563): Two volumes of authorized sermons meant to instruct clergy and laity on systematic theology and Christian living.

The 1662 Book of Common Prayer and Ordinal: Traditional and continuing groups look to this foundational English text as the ultimate historic baseline for liturgy and clergy discipline.

The 1637 Scottish Book of Common Prayer: Often called Laud’s Liturgy, it contains the liturgical revisions and unique combinations of the 1549 and 1604 prayer books championed by Archbishop William Laud. (Contains Laud's famous Comination).

The Affirmation of Saint Louis (1977): Created at the Congress of Saint Louis, this modern document acts as the foundational charter and interpretive lens for the Continuing Anglican movement. It upholds the Sacred Tradition that is set apart from the moral pathology of the modernist Liberal "Liturgical Revolution." That schismatism beset heterodoxy and carnality against the Anglican Communion, the United States Episcopal Church, the Roman Catholic Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, the United Methodist Church, and many other churches.

The Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON): Since 2008, GAFCON has been a worldwide movement of traditional and conservative Anglicans who unite to keep the Bible at the center of their church. In October 2025, rejecting altogether the Liberalism of worldly institutional ecclesia, GAFCON announced it no longer recognizes the authority of the Archbishop of Canterbury and considers itself the true Global Anglican Communion.
